The University of Washington (UW) is a public research university in Seattle, Washington. It was founded in 1861 and is one of the oldest universities on the West Coast. The University of Washington, Seattle campus, is located on the shores of Union and Portage Bays, with views of the Cascade Range to the east and the Olympic Mountains to the west.

“The Ave”, lies nearby and is a focus for much student life at the university. At the heart of the university lies Red Square, which functions as the central hub for students. UW students, sports teams and alumni are called Washington Huskies. In 1922, the husky was selected as the school mascot by student committee. The costumed “Harry the Husky” performs at sporting and special events, and a live Alaskan malamute, currently named Dubs, has traditionally led the UW football team onto the field at the start of games. The school colors of purple and gold were adopted in 1892 by student vote. The sports teams participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Division 1-A and in the Pacific-12 Conference.

Seattle is one of the most beautiful cities in the country with great restaurants, sightseeing and a start off port for many cruises. Major employers in Seattle are Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Qwest Communications and Nordstrom’s.

With a wide range of opportunities both in the city and possibly abroad, students often find themselves looking for affordable and convenient self storage. There are plenty of self storage units available close to the University of Washington.Students can find gated self storage facilities that offer 24 hour access that provide direct drive up to storage units near 98105. You should be able to find a 5′x5′ storage unit anywhere from $49 to $79. This all depends on the location that you choose and if the facility is offering any specials. A 5′X5′ will typically hold the contents of a dorm room. Another good option is to rent a bigger unit and share the costs with a friend.
